Small Town Dreamer

When it comes to the weekends, it doesn’t take much to keep me in bed. Lately I’ve been keeping a good routine of sleeping in, staying off my phone, and just recharging for the busy week ahead. One of my favorite things to do is to just pour myself a cup of coffee and do travel research. No matter if it’s traveling around Los Angeles or traveling abroad, there’s nothing more relaxing than daydreaming about upcoming travels.

I remember growing up as a kid in my small town of Grand Prairie, Texas daydreaming of being able to one-day travel and escape the constrained vibes I felt living in the burbs. I always knew that going to college was a necessary step in being successful and accomplishing the goals I set for myself, but I quickly realized it was the perfect way to be able to travel out of my small town. Luckily, I had the support of my family and community who helped me succeed in my ambitious goals. I’ve always felt the need to pay it forward, so I’m happy to finally get that chance!

Knowing all the goals I had growing up, I couldn’t be more excited to partner with Café Bustelo to help promote the HACU [Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities] ‘El Café del Futuro’ scholarship contest which will help other young people of Hispanic descent accomplish their own dreams just like I was able to. The deadline to enter is May 26th, 2017 and requires an essay describing how your heritage and community motivates you to get a college degree and how you’re planning on giving back to your community, so you have to get to work as soon as possible! Just head HERE so you get all the details and start your application. This is a nation-wide contest so even if you’re past your college application days, make sure to spread the news to your own community and friends!
